Guides

GuideGetting started for club staff
  1. Start your free trial from the pricing section. Pick your club's name, web address and app icon.
  2. Add your staff and give each a role (see staff roles). Staff must switch on two-factor sign-in.
  3. Moving from a spreadsheet? Import your history now (see switching from a spreadsheet).
  4. Copy your club's invite link and post it in your WhatsApp group or Discord.
  5. At your next club night, players add their games from the table and you approve them on the staff board.

Your first 30 days are free, for up to 100 players.

GuideSwitching from a spreadsheet
  1. Export your sheet as a CSV file from Excel or Google Sheets. Each row is one game: the date, the two players, their scores and their armies.
  2. Best Coast Pairings events can be imported directly instead.
  3. In Matches, choose Import, upload the file and check the preview. Fix any names that don't match before you confirm.
  4. Ladderline works out everyone's rating from the full history, oldest game first.
  5. Invite your players. When they make their login, their past games are already on their profile.
GuideAdding a game (players)
  1. Open Ladderline and tap Add a game.
  2. Pick your opponent, enter both scores, the armies and the mission.
  3. Tap Send to opponent. They get a notification to confirm it.
  4. Once they confirm and staff approve it, the rankings, league table and stats update.

Made a mistake? Ask your club's staff to correct it.

GuideRunning a league season
  1. Create a season with its start and end dates and add players to the league.
  2. Choose how players are matched: closest rating, a window of players ranked near them, or the best overall pairings for the whole league.
  3. Generate the matchups. Each player gets at least two opponents, and you can override any pairing by hand.
  4. Players arrange their games with the WhatsApp or Discord button, then add the result as normal.
  5. When the season ends, archive it. The roster carries over to the next season and unplayed matchups are cleared.
GuideTeam events
  1. Create the event and your team, and add your players and their armies.
  2. Captains rate how each of your armies does against each opposing army.
  3. On the day, the pairing helper suggests who to put down next. It fills gaps in your ratings with worldwide win rates.
  4. Enter the results. Once staff approve the event, the games count towards everyone's rating.
GuideStaff roles explained

Give each helper only the role they need. Each role only sees its own part of the staff area.

  • Club owner: everything, including the plan, billing and staff.
  • League manager: seasons, the league roster and matchups.
  • Match admin: approving, correcting and importing games.
  • Account manager: player accounts and password resets.

All staff must use two-factor sign-in. [TBC: check role names match the app]

Players

Do players have to pay?

No. Your club pays one price for everyone. Players can leave an optional tip on the website if they'd like to support Ladderline.

How do I join my club?

Open the invite link your club's staff send you, make your login and pick an avatar. See for players.

My opponent hasn't confirmed our game

Remind them, as they'll have a notification waiting. If they can't, ask your club's staff, who can approve the game.

Why did my rating change by that much?

Ladderline uses an Elo rating. Beating a higher-rated player gains you more than beating a lower-rated one, and the margin of victory counts. A big upset earns a giant-slayer bonus.

How do I message my league opponent?

Use the WhatsApp or Discord button next to your matchup. Choose which one you use in your settings. Your number or username is never shown on a page.

Can I hide my stats from public pages?

Yes. Ask your club's staff, or change it in your settings. [TBC: check where this setting is]

I forgot my password

Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in page, or ask your club's staff to reset it. Still stuck? See support.

Is there an app?

The iPhone and Android apps are coming. Until then, add Ladderline to your home screen from your phone's browser. See for players.

Club staff

What do we need to run it?

Nothing to install. It works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and players can add it to their home screen like an app.

Can we bring our old results?

Yes. Import a CSV from your spreadsheet or a Best Coast Pairings event. See switching from a spreadsheet.

Can we show the rankings on a club TV?

Yes. Switch on the public Top list or league page and open it on the TV. You choose how many players it shows.

Can we use our own club name and icon?

Yes. Set your club's name, caption and app icon in the club settings. Players see them on their home screen.

A result was entered wrongly

A match admin can correct or remove it. The rankings recalculate straight away.

Leagues and team events

How does league matchmaking work?

You pick the method: closest rating, a window of players ranked near each player, or the best overall pairings across the league. Everyone gets at least two opponents, and staff can change any pairing. See running a league season.

What if someone can't play their matchup?

Staff can swap the pairing or give the player a new opponent. Players can also challenge each other.

What does the pairing helper do?

In a team event, it suggests who to put down next, using your captains' matchup ratings and worldwide win rates for any gaps. See team events.

Billing and plans

How much does it cost?

It depends on your club's size. Pay monthly, on a 12-month plan paid monthly, or yearly for the price of 10 months. See pricing.

How does the free trial work?

30 days free, for up to 100 players, with every feature. At the end, the club owner picks the plan that fits the club's size.

What if we go over our player limit?

Existing members keep playing, but new players can't join until the club moves to a bigger plan.

What happens if we stop paying?

You get 14 days to sort it out. After that the club is frozen: everyone can still sign in and see results, but nothing new can be added until the club pays again. Paying unfreezes it straight away.

How do we cancel?

The club owner can cancel at any time and the plan runs to the end of what's paid for. On the 12-month plan paid monthly, the rest of that year is still due. See the terms.

Can we get a refund?

See refunds in the terms.

Do we get receipts or invoices?

Yes. A receipt is emailed for every payment. Clubs on the 150+ plan can also ask for invoices for their committee or shop.

Your data

Is our club's data kept separate?

Yes. Each club has its own players, games and settings. Only your staff can change them, and other clubs can't see them.

Where is our data stored?

On servers in London, UK. See the privacy policy.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes. Download it in the app, or email us. Club owners can ask for a full export of the club.

How do I delete my account?

In the app's settings, or by email. Your past results stay, shown as "Former player". See delete your account.

Who can see my phone number or Discord?

Nobody sees it on a page. A league opponent gets a button that opens a chat with you.
