Terms of service
Last updated 20 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Ladderline when you use the app or this website. They're written to be read. If anything is unclear, email [email protected].
Who we are
Ladderline is run by [TBC: trading name], [TBC: postal address]. "We" and "us" means Ladderline. "Club owner" means the person who creates a club and pays for it.
Your account
- Players use Ladderline free. You need to be 16 or over; younger members need a parent or guardian to make and manage their account.
- One account per person. Keep your password to yourself. Club staff must use two-factor sign-in.
- The details you add (your name, results, army lists) stay yours. You let us store them and show them to your club so the app can work.
- You can delete your account at any time. See delete your account.
Clubs and club staff
- The club owner is responsible for the club: who joins, who is staff, and what is posted in it.
- Staff can approve or remove games, fix mistakes and remove content that breaks these terms.
- If you import results or add players, make sure they're happy to be in the app. Our privacy policy explains what they can see and how they can leave.
- Each plan has a member limit. If a club goes over it, existing members keep playing, but new players can't join until the club moves to a bigger plan.
Free trial
Every new club gets 30 days free, for up to 100 players, with every feature. [TBC: no card needed to start?] At the end of the trial, the club owner picks the plan that fits the club's size. If no plan is chosen, the club is frozen as described below.
Plans and paying
- Prices are on the pricing section of the home page. There are three ways to pay: monthly (no commitment), a 12-month plan paid monthly (a lower monthly price for a 12-month commitment), or yearly up front (the price of 10 months).
- On the 12-month plan paid monthly, cancelling stops renewal at the end of the 12 months; the remaining monthly payments for that year are still due.
- Payments are taken by Stripe on this website, not inside the iPhone or Android apps. Plans renew automatically at the end of each month or year until cancelled.
- Prices include any VAT due. Ladderline is not VAT-registered yet, so no VAT is charged; if that changes, UK VAT at the standard rate (20%) will be included in the same prices.
- If we change a price, we'll email the club owner at least 30 days before it applies, and the change starts at the next renewal.
If a payment fails
We'll email the club owner, and the club gets 14 days' grace to sort it out. After that the club is frozen: everyone can still sign in and see results, but nothing can be added or changed (games, league, teams or settings) until the club pays. Paying unfreezes the club straight away.
Cancelling
- The club owner can cancel at any time. The plan runs to the end of the period already paid for, and doesn't renew.
- After that, or after 90 days frozen, the club's data is kept for 90 days so it can restart or ask for an export, then deleted. Match results are kept so rankings stay correct; players can ask for their name to be removed (see the privacy policy).
- Club owners can ask for a full export of the club's data at any time.
Refunds
[TBC: proposed wording, please confirm] Monthly plans are not refunded for part months. Yearly plans can be refunded in full within 14 days of payment if you change your mind. If we fail to provide the service, you can ask for a refund for the time it was affected. Nothing here affects your legal rights.
Fair use
Don't use Ladderline to:
- harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or post hateful, sexual or illegal content;
- enter results you know are false, or use someone else's account;
- copy other people's content without permission, including artwork and rules text you don't have the right to share;
- attack, overload, scrape or try to get around the security of the service.
We or club staff may remove content, and we may suspend accounts or clubs that break these rules. If we do, we'll tell you why unless the law or safety stops us.
The service
- We work to keep Ladderline running and backed up, but we can't promise it will never be unavailable, for example during updates.
- We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something important to paying clubs, we'll give notice and a fair refund where it applies.
- Ladderline is not affiliated with Games Workshop. Warhammer 40,000 and related names are trademarks of Games Workshop Ltd.
Our liability
Ladderline is provided for clubs to organise their games. We're not liable for losses we couldn't reasonably have expected, or for business losses. Otherwise, our total liability to a club is limited to what the club paid us in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you're a consumer, your legal rights are not affected.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll show a notice in the app and email club owners at least 30 days before. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change applies.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If there's a disagreement, email us first and we'll try to sort it out.
